Day 10 - Productive, But Not Productive Enough

In one of my earlier entries, I mentioned a nifty productivity software called The Focus Master. I stumbled upon it almost by accident, when I checked out somebody's blog via their signature at the WF. Well, I finally bought it today and it's outstanding. It might just be the best $17 I've ever spent.

It allows you to set specific tasks and time limits for tasks. At the end of each allocated task, an alarm goes off. It sounds basic, but trust me - it's great for staying organised, and getting the best out of your time. At the start of my IM day, I typed in 6 tasks, totaling 3 hours and 15 minutes altogether. These included press release and directory submissions, niche research and article rewrites. It's amazing how much easier it is to get things done when you are working to a timeframe.

I learned a lot about my productivity as a result of using this software....and it's not good. If I had done all I done today without the software, I'd have thought I'd got a lot accomplished. By some people's standards maybe I have. But considering I'm working towards a 1k goal, it's not enough. 6 hours+ is more like it - if I don't start putting in those kinds of hours then I'm going to fall well short of my target.

For the second day in a row, no sales or anything. Pretty disappointing. Despite doing better in the search engines for a couple of keywords, clicks have dropped. Also, my main niche site still isn't getting opt ins to my list, and I really don't understand why.

On the plus side, I set aside an hour to research a new niche. I had 2 in mind and started by finding a good PLR product with master resell rights. I found a fantastic one, which made the decision easy. I also did some keyword research with Micro Niche Finder. Found some good ones too, without too much competition. I hope to get this project moving by the end of this week. I'm racing against the clock now, but my wife is going to help me out with some of the technical stuff.

That's all really - The Focus Master is going to be a massive help, and I'm now going to end each entry documenting how much time I worked for. Today it was 3 hours and 15 minutes.
